Shanghai Tailors

Our team of Shanghai tailors are among the finest in the world. They arduously construct the garments, taking every minor detail into account. Their skill and expertise is second to none. They enter no school of tailoring, but undergo a lifetime apprenticeship starting in their early years.

The most important person in tailoring is the cutter. Unlike modern tailors who use standard set patterns, Shanghai tailors traditionally use a handrule to cut a suit or shirt based on the individual measurements taken, thus minimizing wastage of fabric. It is quite an art. Once the cutting is complete, the fabric is given to the sewer, then the stitchmaster.

In a day, a traditional cutter can cut six or seven suits. Paper patterns are exclusively made and retained for each individual customer to ensure future garments are consistent throughout the years.

Sadly, the art of Shanghai tailoring is slowly fading. We will endeavor to continue using this traditional craft, which we believe, is the finest in the trade.
